so me and my friends go to our local guitar center very often. and being a bass player, im never really happy with their selection of amps. i remembered this music shop close to me that is very popular that i havent gone to in years. the last time i was there, i played guitar. i posted a thread earlier about how i cant find a place to play a SVT-2, a SVT-4, and other amps. well today i decided to go to this music shop. as soon as i walked into the upstairs amp room, i was in awe. i have never seen so many nice amps. granted, some were very old. but still nice. even outside the amp room, the halls were lined with old Kustom heads and stuff. maybe i just havent gotten out enough haha. but this place was amazing. they have good prices and are very negotiable the SVT-2 was only about 1000. any ways, here is only a fraction of what i stumbled upon. sorry for rambling

i havent heard about the SVT-5 or the SVT-GS any comments or reviews? i havent played any of them yet, but i will be spending a lot of time there. they have tons of mesa,swr, and hartke stuff too. just didnt take pics

yeah, thats part of the reason they are very negotiable. but just cuz they are old, doesnt make them bad IMO. and there were wayyyyy too many amps to take pics of. i only really got shots of the ampeg stuff. they had genz,hartke,swr,mesa and a lot more haha. its prollly not that impressive to most people, but i only go to GC and they have a few ampegs, and a few mark bass rigs. i am very excited to be able to try new things.

i have a feeling someone is seeing something and wants it but wont tell me in fear that i will be like "hey, they said its cool, im gonna buy it!" hahaha well i can assure you i do not have the money yet, thats why i am going to spend hours there playing every amp as i save money. so by the time i have the money, i will know exactly what i want haha.

im going to post in this thread beacuse it has pics of the amps.

The SVT II pro is an ALL tube amp offering 300 watts of tubey goodness.

the 5 pro offers 1350 watts and is all solid state minus ONE preamp tube.

the GENE SIMMONS svt is nothing special.

and the others look like more solidstate/hybrid bass amps.

the 4 pro has 3 preamp tubes well here

all of this info, was found on the Intrawebs. The only amp I would look into, would be the II pro....BUT i have a II Non pro, so technically, i wouldn't buy it either.

WOW! Blast from the past. I bought my first real bass from Stutzmans!!! Well, had it bought for me by my parents, as I was just a little kid then. It was back in mid/early 80's. It was a black Yamaha BB300. I forgot all about that place. Thanks for triggering that memory!! :)
