I just want a simple amp.

I want an amp with one knob and one switch.

The knob will be "Volume".
It should go from silent to bar gig loud.

The switch will be for "Mute".

The circuitry will in no other significant way manipulate or alter the signal the amp receives.

You guys have any leads for that?

As far as ohms and all that, if you can identify an amp that meets my requirements, I'll get the other gear that matches it for use.

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed] doesn't have a volume control but the one on your bass should do, really.

Man I don't understand how people play without a basic head and cabnit. But then I've only used two set ups since1985...
I have a real hard time with change hahaha but this is interesting.

Well the first thing you need to understand is that there is no such thing as a circuit that doesn't affect your sound at least to some degree. But honestly your best bet would be a DI into a power amp. Done and cheap. If you buy something "special" that meets your requirements you will probably pay too much. Because it will in essence be a DI into a power amp.

This must have been brought up before, but when you post "The fist thing you need to understand is...," I end up waiting for the other point because of your avatar and username.

It's almost like that Monty Python Spanish Inquisition skit where the guy keeps amending how many points wants to make. ...well, at least I'm amused. But I'm easily amused.

sounds wild to me. I mean really I rarely touch the knobs on my pre amp or power amp. if anything I mess with the blend knob on my sans amp RBI and I flip the standby switch on my SWR head I use as a power amp. But that said I do have my EQ and gain adjusted some, its not all completely flat even though I never touch it anymore. I do find Orange amps kinda funny . They basically built a good reputation as an amp company by mainly offering amps that don't have a mid control so people can't scoop out mids and make there stuff sound like poop.

back in the day, Budda made guitar amps which were almost set up like that, though, I think they had a gain/tone/master setup.

in the TecAmp thread, interest has been expressed for a Puma with just a Taste control. sounds like a market might exist for the right builder.
