What a coincidence. I am right now, as I type this, wasting time at work with Chrono Trigger on my desk top. I highly recommend the Emulator/ROM approach. A whole lot cheaper, and I can keep a ton of games on a disk.

ROMs are definitely the way to go. Being able to save at any time makes games much more enjoyable.
Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, and of course the Donkey Kong Country games. Gotta have NBA Jam as well.
+A million. Saving at any point in the game on a ROM is almost as revolutionary as when they invented Pause.
Also, I see by your avatar that your a fan of the Chrono Trigger. Right on Sir Frog, errr, Glenn.
Pawn Shops and Yard Sales will be your best friend. GOt a whole box of SNES games for 10 bucks. Resold them on Ebay for 280.

Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore, and Super Mario RPG are great for RPG action.
TLOZ: A Link to the past and Super Metroid are really fun too.
Ogre Battle was about the rarest popular game ever released in the US. Back in the day, I remember people paying $150 for a copy. Strangely, they are not getting that much on the Bay these days.
Why didn't they ever make a sequel to Kid Icarus? Am I the only one who liked that old NES game? When Super Metroid came out, I knew that a sequel to Kid Icarus had to be next.
