I know everyone hates the TC Electronic RH450...

But what about the TC cabinets? Once someone figured out the RH450 isn't actually 450 watts everyone now hates the TC heads. It's my main rig and I still personally enjoy it. But what about the cabinets? The RS210 or RS212. Have those fallen out favor as well?
 
Never played the RS112 or 212, but IMO and IME, the RS210 is one of the finest sounding 210's I've ever heard. Wonderful full vertical orientation, GREAT sounding coax tweeter, small stage footprint, nice warm 'Bag End-ish' tone. GREAT cab.

I also think the TC heads are quite nice also, if you like the baked in old school tonal profile.
 
I love the RH450. It's tremendous. Kicks serious hind quarters.

Haven't played any of the cabs, but would like to, especially the RS212 (x2). As it is for now, the cabs I use take care of me pretty well (LDS 215 w/3015s & Selenium D220Ti, LDS 15/6 w/3015LF & 6ND410, BFM Jack Lite 112 w/3012HO x2, BMF Omni 210 w/2510 IIs x2, Genz Benz Focus 115 x2, Genz Benz Uber 12 x2, Schroeder 412 BMF).

I know I've heard that the power doesn't seem to match what they say, but a friend of mine has a full TC Electronics rig with an RH450 Head. The thing sounds fantastic to me. Not sure which TC cabs he has with it, but I really like the way it sounds.

TCE lies about the impedance. They say the cabinets are 8 ohms, but they're not. Life is so simple when you just lump everything together.

Those impedance ratings are nominal in the first place. The resistance changes with the position of the cones. They are good for comparisons to different cabinets but that is as far as it goes; once the cab is plugged in and powered up, those ratings go out the window. That applies to everyone NOT just TCE.

i use a rs210c with a fender bassman 135 and a wariwick pro-fet 5.2 and i think its a great cab. its got the sound and quick response i that want

Sure RH450 isn't putting out 450 watts and if you go to the web site that is clearly stated. They are using advanced circuitry to achieve the output of a 450 watt amp when appropriate. Maybe they should be clearer in their marketing but, they feel they have a superior design even if it is only putting out 250 watts (RMS) most of the time.

That said, I'm done bashing TC over the wattage issue. They don't go out of their way to tell you, but they at least do tell you now, and folks can make up their own minds. And believe it or not, I came very close to buying a Spark Mini booster until I found one I liked just a little better. But the Spark Mini wasn't bad at all.

The myth of TC cabs being meaningfully different from 8ohms was prompted by a mistake made by Bass Gear Magazine when measuring those cabs' impedance.

They are nominally 8ohms, and probably just a smidge higher than that. Since other cabs can be a smidge lower than 8ohms nominal impedance (no cab is 'exactly' 8ohm or 4ohms nominal), they could guarantee three of their cabs resulted in an impedance their heads could safely handle. Three of most other 8ohm cabs would be find also, but you can't really be sure they won't dip much below 2.67 ohms.

I used to own RS210 and RS112 cabs and they are both excellent cabs. I would not hesitate gigging them if I had to.

I A/Bed the RS112 with 2 different Bergantino 112's and went with the TC. The Bergs sounded marginally better, but based on the huge price difference, the tonal quality difference wasn't enough to justify one of the Bergs.

Sounds like a reasonable explanation. Would like to see some independent impedance measurements, though. Easy to do...anyone with a cheap multimeter can do it.

No. Anyone cannot "measure" impedance with a cheap or even expensive multimeter.

Anyone can measure resistance with a multimeter, but impedance and resistance are different. Impedance is not a constant. It varies significantly with frequency. Measurement of impedance is taken across a broad frequency spectrum, and based on the resulting curve (a given driver might give measurements from 2 to 30 ohms) and what the impedance is at a particular frequency (I believe 400 Hz is used), a nominal rating can be applied. Industry standard nominal impedance ratings are based on the lower threshold. A 4 ohm rating can be based on that specific curve point being measured between 3.2 and 6.3 ohms. An 8 ohm rating can be come from a measurement between 6.4 and 12.7 ohms.
