If the BGM measurements are off (I didn't know that, didn't keep up with the whole "TC saga" after that long thread full of arguements), then I may stand corrected here. The lowest points along those curves were a good 7 ohms, maybe 7.1 or 7.2, rather than the 5.5 - 6 that is common to a lot of "8ohm" speakers, but I guess that info may be off.

The TC ad said you could run 3 cabs on their amp, not on any amp, so the impedance must be on the high side, the amp has a healthy margin of safety built in, or both.

our measured impedance is just DC resistance. If you look at the impedance curve, that cab's going to present a load that's pretty typical of an 8-ohm cab

I'm still curious, what these curves are that show the RS cabinets as so highly atypical?

The BGM curves are apparently rather hit-or-hiss. Like others here on TB, I read that they had been "measured" at over 10 ohms, and believed it. Without any information indicating it, I didn't believe that was necessarily abnormal. I saw that they had made similar measurements on other cabinets.

THIS seems to work for me , not really caring what others think or whether or not it's not cool anymore. Sounds great is plenty loud and gets tone that works for this or other basses or my NS or my upright.

I'm a fan of the rh450! Just picked one up from a excellent forum member with a carvin br410 4ohm bottom. Suits me just fine! Digging tuner, compressor, eq, tube drive, etc. Really fun and practical set up.

I plan to complete my RH450 with an RS210. I really dig these cabinets form factor. Maybe if needed after that, an RS112, just to increase a tad in the lows.

I Saw the Yardbirds 2 weeks ago. A friend of mine provided back line for the concert. The bass player had my friends Ampeg 810. The bass player was epic, so tight, great tone for a young lad. He used his own TC Electronics RH750. My friend and I were so empressed with the RH750 even when not going threw the PA during setup. What a great amp.

No. Anyone cannot "measure" impedance with a cheap or even expensive multimeter.

Sure you can.

You'll need one that does true RMS, you'll need a function generator, and you'll need a lot of time - but it it's a long way from impossible.

I've used the 450 and 2 to 3 of the 2 10 cabs for over 4 years now and have had great tone (from what people say) and thankfully COMPLETE reliability (now there it goes next gig!) Would love to A/B the 450 head to the 750 for the reasons Kjung helped "adjust" but a question to the guys who have owned "everything" if the 450 is somewhat mid-focused, isn't that something that generally helpful having presence in a live mix, or are your observations more that you can't get far enough away from that sound, at times, when needed? I guess I've always thought, unless you are playing quiet gigs, or non rock oriented gigs, that cabs and heads that have the baked in somewhat mid scoop/cut inhibits you finding a nice place for your bass to fit in live, so that it's not PA style bass guitar: ultra lows and sparkly highs with no "gristle" to the tone, or as I like to say "finger on the fret board sound. ? I'm curious, speak please!

But what about the TC cabinets? Once someone figured out the RH450 isn't actually 450 watts everyone now hates the TC heads. It's my main rig and I still personally enjoy it. But what about the cabinets? The RS210 or RS212. Have those fallen out favor as well?

I don't get it. They're nice heads...but who cares if they're not actually 450W. GK has been playing that game with their head naming for YEARS and everyone still likes them.

Aesthetically, I think the RS cabs are very nice.

I am playing GK gear now, which I love - But it doesn't have the beautifully voiced midrange of all the TC bass gear,

watts or no watts.

The perceived loudness level of 250w vs 450w is a little less than 3db, which is pretty much moot. You also get a, roughly, 3db increase in doubling the number of speakers with a few caveats. It takes 10 times the power to equal a perceived doubling of loudness.

I love my RH450 and RS210 cab. I even tried the new darling a Tone Hammer 500 and still liked the RH450 better.
