Is there any better reason to play bass than because our heroes use them???
How could I forget Entwistle who used a 4005, 4005LS Light Show bass, 4001 and an eight string 4001 throughout his career.

I have in my songbook of Quadrophina, I could never find it online. There is another, weird thing is it’s a reversed picture.
Who else uses Rickenbacker basses? Anyone who wants exceptional tone....

I don't have a problem with its playability!........I guess there are bassists and there are bassists. Those who can and those who can't. Its all down to being adaptable that some bassists just can't cope with.

I have a problem playing Hofners. I can do it, but i am not really comfortable with the short scale,ergonomics,etc.

It's a good reason as long as your heroes actually used them. Geddy's most famous recordings are a J dialed to a Ric sound (and he never went back) and Squire shaved so much wood off his it was practically a different instrument. I remember an article with Chris saying he felt bad knowing lots of guys bought Rics trying to get his sound.
Doesn’t matter if someone famous used one or not. There are plenty of good instrument makers out there that have never been used by someone who had a career in the limelight.

Up to about 1985 Geddy used a Ric on all of his studio recordings and the majority of his earlier stuff was recorded using his Ric.
Love RICs or hate them, at least the company has good quality control and customer service going for it...
