I have a problem playing Hofners. I can do it, but i am not really comfortable with the short scale,ergonomics,etc.I don't have a problem with its playability!........I guess there are bassists and there are bassists. Those who can and those who can't.Its all down to being adaptable that some bassists just can't cope with.

It's a good reason as long as your heroes actually used them. Geddy's most famous recordings are a J dialed to a Ric sound (and he never went back) and Squire shaved so much wood off his it was practically a different instrument. I remember an article with Chris saying he felt bad knowing lots of guys bought Rics trying to get his sound.
