I love my B3k but......

It suffers the same volume boost that made me get rid of my Bass Muff Pi for the Deluxe...

Sorry if this has been posted before. I tried to search and couldn't find anything.

The settings that I currently use on my B3k are Noon on all or blend between noon and 2 with treble switch off and Grunt switch on Fat. The problem I have is this is least double my volume since it takes the dry signal and adds the O/D on top of it.

What do you guys do to counteract this? I've come up with these options...

1) Use the B3k as my "always on" pedal. I like this idea, but there are a few (not many) songs that I wouldn't want it on for. I would be able to deal with leaving it on if I had to.

2) Deal with the volume boost by using my eq pedal as a volume boost to match the increased level when the B3k is off.

Edit: 3) Set the Grunt switch to thin. I won't do this due to the difference in sound and I don't think that would completely level out the volume anyway.

Any input is appreciated.

I know it does. That's the problem in the OP. The level just adds the O/D on top of the clean signal which will always add a volume boost. The Bass Muff is the same way unless you add the master volume mod to it.

That's what the blend is for. Clockwise on the blend removes the clean and adds OD. If the OD is too loud, turn the level control down.

You really should be able to get any mix of the Clean/Dirty signal with the given controls with the exception of Clean boost. If you like the mix you are getting, but need less volume, turn the Blend control up (which will lower the Clean signal volume) but the Level control down (which will lower the dirty signal volume). It might take a bit to find your perfect balance, but once you get it it should be pretty intuitive.

That's exactly what I would have recommended ;).

Another way to do just that is to start with the blend all the way to the right, set the volume with the Level knob and then add clean signal to taste dialing back the blend knob.
If you need a tad more or less volume it's as easy as using the level knob to adjust and perhaps move the blend a bit to compensate.
Hope this helps!

Yeah I think I can make that work. I think the part that threw me for a loop was the fact the level knob is at like 7:30-8 o'clock.

Great! That is not that uncommon with lower output basses so no worries. Just try the suggestions above and remember to have fun (tweaking is one of my favorite things!).
If you need any more help to set this up perfectly you know where to find us ;).

The fact that you support your product openly on forums is absolutely phenomenal. Thanks for the advise. Like I said the Volume at 7:30-8 is keeping the volume pretty even so I think I should be good. Until I want to get a different sound :roflmao:

I think this is the genious thing with those pedals. Technically it doesn't make a difference whether there is the clean knob and then the master volume or whether there is the blend and the volume only controlling the wet signal. However, in use, this is - at least for me - way more intuitive. I set the level to zero, then adjust the blend to the right amount of clean signal. Then I dial in the distortion.
Verrrry goood.
