Sorry to hear this. Maybe look to Tommy Shannon as inspiration. He's said his best years were with Stevie Ray and he misses him greatly, but he still plays too.

A week and a half ago, my best friend died. I knew him for 30 years. He was my guitarist for 25. He is my brethren. His mom introduces me to people as her "other son". Music was always a dream of ours. Now I feel like part of me is gone - like the dream is dead. I've got about $10,000 in basses, guitars, and gear. I feel like I've lost my drive, and I am contemplating selling all of my gear. I know Damon. He would tell me to jam on. But, the sense of fulfillment is gone. Perhaps it will return. I just don't know.

Keep your gear. It will serve as a reminder of the large impact that your buddy has had on your life and will give playing music a whole new meaning to you.
