There are torts and there are torts. The black looks better than that particular tort for sure.

When I was very young, tort on your bass and wood on the side of your car were cool. Tort had its day, and it was a very long one - the wood car thing died very quickly, partly because it became fake wood. Tort has been fake for a very long time, and it's been quite a while since it was cool. Time to let it go.

Big fan of tort here but I must admit I see more and more satin black pick guards in my area nowadays and they look great.
Great looking bass either way, but maybe spend a little time cleaning prior to picture taking. LOL!

Saw a black Jazz recently with a black scratchplate and rosewood board with white blocks and that looks very sharp compared to the usual black basses.
