I must ask, for I am recording-ignorant...

I have been asked to record a bass scratch track for a guitarist friend's new surf tune. I have no recording gear, and am fixing to call a sound engineer friend and get an appointment in his studio.

Some guitarist on a Yahoo list mentioned a program that comes with Windows, where you can record direct to it, on your PC.

Is this a real thing, or is she smokin' crack? If it is for real, can anyone here enlighten me on it? I'd love to not have to go to a studio, just for a scratch.

Ignorant of the mysteries of recording...

Hey, Cherie:

I have the equipment to do what you need, I think. Do you have the other tracks on a CD, or what?

PM me, and maybe we can get together and get you recorded.

~John

His track is online. I'll PM you the link...its public, but I can't get it to download to a cd. He wants me to e-mail him the bass track when its done.

I'll be home around 2 p.m., and can get the link and send it to you.

THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!

Muchos besos...
