New project on the bench, 60's Gibson EB0F body. I really want to restore this with a original neck. Hopefully someone has one stashed away!

Put up a wanted ad in the classified section... pretty long odds, at a guess.

Being somewhat infamous for snapping off headstocks, there are probably a lot more old bodies than old necks out there.

You might need to build a new one, even if that's not what you want.

Yeah, I gotta think that's a tall order...

Best to start cruising ebay, reverb, and other similar places to see if one pops up, or if you can find a project bass with mutilated body you can pull a neck from.

Making one, or having one made is an option. It would probably run you $300-$500 depending on who makes it and what you want.

In any case I'll hang around to see how you make out :D

Sub'd

If you do eventually want to go the way of a custom neck, I'll shill for @Freekmagnet here in the LC. You may know him, he works out of the same space as @Bruce Johnson and has churned out some highly rated custom necks recently. I have no doubt he could build you something that would look identical to the original part. Assuming he doesn't mind making a gibson-copy. :D

Thx for the shout-out @Beej!

I can confirm that I can build a replacement neck for that, and it might even be arguably better than the original Gibson neck. And for the record, I don’t mind copying Gibson stylings - I just built a replacement neck for an old Grabber! That was a cool bass.

Those holes don't look original to the body to my eye. They are inconsistent from one another in location. The pocket looks like it's been scraped down as well - if you blow up the first pic, you can see where the longer neck tongue used to be. I think @Reedt2000 is onto something.

Poor @godofthunder59 we've taken over your thread! :D
