I Need a Head!

Try to find a Genz Benz Series 2 amp. I bought one, and have been pleasantly surprised how nice it sounds. It does 375 watts at 4ohms, 240 at 8ohms. It does sound really warm, and gets plenty loud. They can be purchased in a two space rack case for what you are hoping to pay.

I'll just get down to it: I don't want to spend a dime over $300, and I don't want to buy used. I've been looking at the Hartke 2000, Ashdown MAG300, and Behringer BX3000T (even though I'm not a fan of Behringer). I have issues with Behringer, I've heard that the Ashdown is too mid-happy, and not much about the Hartke 2000. I'll mostly be playing small venues and churches, so I figure 200 watts will be enough. Any suggestions?

Ahhh....for future reference, let us all know that in your first post.

Sorry bro....those are your three choices. You don't like any of them, so it looks like you are going to be stuck with an amp you don't want.

Yea, limited budgets and non-conservative wants don't go too well together.

If you refuse to buy used, that's the way it goes. You can either adapt or accept the way things are.

You have to remember you're spending $300 and then re-evaluate what you're looking for in an amp. At least one of those two factors is going to have to change. So you can either a) Spend more money, b) Not be as picky with what you're looking for, OR c) both a and b.

Well, if you dont want to go used, ashdown is the best bet, HA2000 is next.

GO used!

don't do ebay if you dont want to - check out music stores that do used. I would highly reccommend the hartke 3500 over the 2000, 3000, or 4000. The 3500 is a tank - I got mine used for $245 with a year warranty from daddy's.

hope that helps

I've owned a lot of high end gear in my life, and if you looked at the W-2's over the course of my career, you would come to the conclusion I sell drugs. Nope, never touched the stuff,( not even in high school when kids were going down the hall shouting "get your ludes") the 70's were a different world. How did I do it, you ask? We'll maybe you didn't but I'm going to tell you anyway! I BOUGHT USED, Even my house! someone owned it before me, (go figure) I have had Bimmers, Alembics, SUV's with the heated leather seats! I always, when possible let some other poor bloke take the depreciation. A new Alembic Series II retails for like 10 grand!!! or something like that, used 3499 if you hunt. And you know the good thing, if you don't like, you can sell for 3999! I've bought two other high end basses new, won't mention what brands , but I didn't eat to well the year I sold them. It's your money but if you have a limited budget and your not willing to look used your just throwing it away, and if your gonna do that, here's my adress......
