I would say try the Akai Intelliphase... Built like a tank, and with touch sensitive settings, can be very versitile.

red witch moon phaser is my favorite, but its about $300 new.

i think a small stone is the next best phase out there. the older one, red face without an LED...although a new one will be quite similar to that one.

and a 3rd option is an MXR phase 90..

but in your price range id definately go for a small stone.

+1 for the Boss PH-3. I've got one, and love it.

I find that the current Phase90 block logo standard issue, sounds absolutely fantastic on bass. Its not versatile but the tone is all there. It has that mid bump that really helps the effect to cut through. No point in buying an expensive Phaser that no one can actually tell you're using.
