I need opinions on this p-bass!

I've been shopping around found this p-bass online that I interested in buying, I do like that it has a maple neck and the to me the price seems pretty fair ($600) I was thinking of maybe offering a little less to see if he bites. It does have the modified extra pick up, my question is, how does that change the sound. As in, what kind difference does it make with that extra pickup. I've seen a few other players with that type of bass but was never sure of why they chose it. If anybody could help me I would greatly appreciate it. Links to the bass pics are below, thanks!

The "regular" split single coil p'up is THE sound of a P bass.

If you add a bride p'up, you're better off with a "Jazz" style p'up. IME/IMO.

But, ultimately, THE sound of a Precision is the "middle" positioned split single coil p'up.

Very nicely done mod. Choosing P pups for bridge position was great move to. Def better then a J imo. I also see he didnt put it real close to the bridge like some have. Another plus as that avoids the tendency for it to be overly trebly for the D&G strings. Sound wise it will have P pup voicing with little more treble and little less bass. A nice P bridge pup position voice. For regular P voice you can solo the neck pup and then for very nice variation for leads either solo the bridge pup or just dial it in to taste mixed with neck pup. The most long term maker of basses with P pup bridge and neck sets is of course BC Rich. Some of theirs though put the bridge position P too close to the bridge. The positioning of the pup on the one your looking at is much better imo. Looks like very nice bass. If you like the neck it could be well worth getting for $600 or bit less. Looks to be in very good condition.
