I need Rig advise!!

Hey ppl. I am building a rig right now finnally getting away from my big combo amp. I have an early 80s Mesa 400 head and a david eden 1x15 both which i picked up for $600. Im looking for a fairly loud rig, i was wondering if i should buy a 2x10 for the high end since i play alot of six string. This guy at a guitar store wants to sell me an empty ampeg cab and put 4 jbl speakers in it (my bass teachers idea). So pretty much im looking for something to pump more out of my mesa and handle the mids and highs keeping good tone. Any ideas?

As for your empty cab scenario...it is risky BUT it could be a real awesome deal too. The choice/risk is yours.

As for the rest...what style of music, how big of a venue and what is your price range?

MY NAME IS TOMMY ALSO!!11 Omg we are like brothers, we both play bass and have the same first name. Do you use blankets when you sleep? If you do we will have even more incommon? Did you accidently shave off half of your eyebrow this morning? I did and I am amazed at my stupidity.

haha, sweet. kinda a random question but y do u have the 2x10 on bottom? just elevates the low end?
Well, actually, the 210 has more bass than my 115!

But the 210 is 4ohm and the 115 is 8ohm. So the 210 is potentially getting twice the power.

In actuality it is getting a bit more than that because I have it cranked up one notch when compared to the 115. Together they really sound sweet!

Whatever you do...don't let anyone tell you what you should or shouldn't do when it comes to your tone. What works, works. And that is that, no matter what someones calculator says!

Go Stereo first.
Two Ampeg 100R rockets and....
A Bag End 18 with ELF for a sub.
Nothing will touch you.
Seriously.
Would that be with my eden 115? How would i go about using stereo because thats one aspect of my rickenbacker i owuld like to learn more about and utilize. Does it effect my tone in any way?

I'd match it with an Eden 2x10, or Eden cab.

When I mixed/matched cabs a while back (a Goliath III on top of a Powerhouse 4x10), I actually got a lot less volume...probably due to some type of phase issue.

My Bass 400 came with 6L6's. I'd have to run the master around 6-7 at shows. These days with KT-88's, I never need to push it past 4 1/2 (driving two cabinets). You should be fine driving a 1x15/2x10 with 6L6's in the power section.
