i need some comfortable shoes for work.

Okay. Shoes for work.

I see where you are coming from about price but bear with me.

Dansko Professional Staple Clogs.

I've worn the same pair of comfortable shoes; that actually do look great, for the past two years. While they are beaten up they are still holding up. They can be resoled, and the uppers redone by any competent shoe repairman.

I work in a kitchen without fatigue or slip mats. I'm on my feet the entire time (except smoke breaks). I'm very sure footed on slippery lettuce covered kitchen floors. My feet don't ache at all after a 6-8 hour shift; although it is nice to kick them off at the end of the day.

I like them so much I bought a second pair to get married in, and to wear casually.

They were around $130, but I haven't needed to replace them. The only shoes I've bought in the past two years were impulse buys that get worn to gigs and such (Danskos are a little hard to rock out in)

look around as they come in different colors and finishes. They are handmade in Denmark as opposed to sweatshops in China (Nike, Vans, GRRR).

Added bonus. I see a lot of professional women wearing them. Good icebreaker and they will know that you are a practical man with good taste in shoes.

Dunno what your working with, but I'd aim at a nice pair of thin sneakers in calf leather, had a pair of kenzo's like that during 2-3 years when I was out doin lots of trade shows and stuff, would never have made it without em..

I just bought a pair of Rockport Oxfords that I'm digging. I was on my feet for nearly 15 hours today wearing them. I got them on sale for $75 at Macys. The box says Ellingwood for model if that makes a difference.

My last pair of dress shoes were Kenneth Cole Reaction. First thing I did was take out the insoles and replaced them with Dr. Scholls Work Boot Insoles. Made a world of difference. I haven't had to do that with the Rockports.

If I'm standing all day, I like to wear something supportive, like a lightweight or medium-weight hiking boot. The lighter ones tend to be better ventilated and, obviously, lighter; the hevaier ones tend to be more supportive. These Merrells are my current favorites:

I also like Superfeet insoles to add a little more support to any shoe.

Jonathan, what kind of work is this? If you have to dress up a little bit, I suggest Born shoes. I get mine from DSW. They don't cost much, and are usually on sale anyway.

Great, great selection of casual shoes, and they feel like you're walking on air. I've had mine for three years now, and they still look good.

This brand immediately came to mind when I saw the thread title.

At the moment I'm not spending as much time on my feet as I used to, but when I was on my feet for 8-10 hours/day I swore by Born's. I still wear them to work every day and on occasion will wear them when I'm in the field. I've worn a pair of their loafers (while I was supposed to be wearing steel-toes) to climb top-to-bottom on an oil rig (equivalent to about 15 stories) as many as 5 times/afternoon, and NEVER had foot/leg pain.

For steel-toes I keep a pair of Dr. Marten's Wellingtons under the back seat of my truck. They're terrific, but very heavy.

I liked these so much I bought 7 pairs, in black and white. I hate black shoes like these, but they are so comfortable, I ignored the look. (I've even worn them with a tux on stage) They are as comfortable as my 30 year old boots.

Unbelievably comfortable, and they are supposed to tone up your calves and buns too!:hyper:
