I need some funk jazz suggestions

This might work for you too; its how I find new music lots of times. Go to Pandora (www.pandora.com) and start a station with those tracks/artists you mentioned. Pandora will do the rest. Then if you hear something you like off to Spotify to listen to a whole album.

{edit} Check out Medeski, Martin, & Wood all of it is good, but I especially enjoy End of the World Party

Primal Scream is a good one...at times, though, borderline 'Disco-y'.
Ferguson did a nice cover of "Spinning Wheel", in 3/4, IIRC.

Have you checked out any Medeski Martin & Wood? They tend to lean towards the jazz-funk side.
