Yep, what Paul said.

Low voltage/current equipment is much more forgiving than high voltage/current equipment.

The trick with multi tapped transformers is to have the primaries in phase, otherwise all kinds of interesting stuff can happen .

No need to be embarassed, asking about why it blew up after installation would've been much more emnbarassing.

If You work in E-trade, chances are that there's a tech in house who can connect the transformer the correct way the first time around so a dedicated amp tech isn't Your only option. IMHO only of course.

I can read music pretty good too, but I wouldn't take a gig subbing for a symphony player!

Don't feel embarrassed. The electronics field has grown enormously over the years. I can safely repair any tube amp you put in front of me. Same goes for SS amps. Now SMPS, on the other hand, thems is pure black magic!
