I need... wardrobe advice

I think I might have said this before some years ago... Saks 5th Ave Store, the fancy mall version, not the the real Saks. Here near Palm Springs in Cabazon, in the 75% area of that store it has crazy cool odd things to wear that look like clown-bondage clothing. That's where I shop if I want something that's off, you'll never be quite cool or but you won't be a cliche' either. No woman will ever ask your name when your setting up and then run a bar tab with your name and says she's with the band, you'll scare the hell out of people like that. You'll remind her of Dennis Hopper with the oxygen mask.
Yeah, and you don’t want to be a dinosaur in a white tux either.

I’ve said this before, but TB is one place that I would not come for fashion advice. Lots of great advice in general here, but not that.

I’m not sure what kind of gig you need the “vibe” for, but I’d advise Googling pics of bands that you think have good style and taking bits and pieces of what you like.

I haven taken your advice and bought a hotdog outfit

Thanks!

First of all you have to be able to sell whatever it is that you're wearing and by that I mean it has to fit well to your body type. If you have a wife or a girlfriend take them with you and go shopping. A woman is going to be much more knowledgeable about this kind of thing. It also depends on the kind of places you play. If you are playing biker bars it's going to be one thing and if you're playing corporate events it's going to be something else. You also need to be comfortable in what ever you are wearing. Especially the shoes. You are probably going to be standing most of the time at the gig. " It's better to look good than to feel good" does not apply to shoes.

It varies based on weather and whether or not it is indoor or outdoor.

I have to be comfortable, and being overheated is NOT an option for me, so I'm not above wearing a pair of cotton shorts and a t-shirt with tennis shoes on a gig that it is 90 degrees outside with 90% humidity.

Indoor gigs I usually wear jeans, tennis shoes, a t-shirt and some kind of shirt over that, either long sleeve or short sleeve, depending on how warm it is in the venue. If it is too warm, I will chuck the over shirt.

This is me at my most recent gig.

Usually a button down shirt w/sport coat/blazer/suit separate with jeans and Vans or Uins for footwear. That's also my typical daily wear. Summer outdoor shows button down short sleeve patterned shirt, usually brightly colored, jeans, aforementioned Vans/Uins. It has to be mighty oppressively hot and muggy for me to resort to shorts.

What do y'all wear for "rockstar vibe" gig wear?

I can't do just a t-shirt, it gets too yanked around and the neck ends up getting stretched.

"casual" dress shirts work sometimes.

I haven't found a fest I like, but I gotta have a second layer.

Casual blazer?

Black button up shirt ($20 Amazon basics), nice jeans and boots or good sneakers if my feet hurt. They often do.

Flat cap if I feel like it, but not always.
