I no longer have to fire the drummer!

I have slowly been trying to convince my (cover band) bandmates to make the switch from wedges to in-ears for a while now and my drummer finally agreed to it. For the most part he's a decent enough player, but there were a few tunes where we wouldn't lock in, tempo would inexplicably change, etc.

Last night's rehearsal was spectacular! We were locked in much more comfortably and he took to in-ears without any learning curve. After we finished up he said he wishes he had switched sooner.

Now I don't feel compelled to change drummers (albeit he also provides practice space, trailer for gear, a bunch of the PA, etc.).

Now to get the rest of my band on board...

My first thought was that he must have gotten locked up for failure to pay child support, but congratulations.

Congrats on your victory, but you still have to fire him. From the first time you pick up a bass, your destiny is to always fire the drummer. It’s like being knighted or something.

firing a drummer is rewarding, but keeping them around to torment is better...and way more fun!

My BL has fired the same drummer twice. He is our current drummer. He really plays well and is a fun guy, but he has this weird ritual. Every time break is over and it's time to go on stage, he has to go to the bathroom and stop at the bar to get another beer.
