I SEE A RARE BASS

The 4003 was really light and very comfortable. Nice acoustics. Glad to know that I'm not part of that group that adores them but could never play them, this early. I just need to grow in experience so that I could have an excuse to drop $1900 on a bass. Not Fireglo though.

Old Smoothie was shockingly light. Nice sound, but my fretting hand was caught off guard by the thick neck profile, the first I've encountered of that kind. "A Stingray okay, but you've never tried a Precision before?" Nope. Glad that I was given the opprotunity to experience one now though.

To see and play TWO basses on the high-end tier of your GAS list is an amazing feeling. :D

Hey man. This is a special experience. I just wanted to share it, haha

I mean, it might not mean much to you guys who probably already own such instruments and all, but I'm a 15 year old high school student with no job. I never imagined playing a Rickenbacker, nonetheless ever even seeing one, espcially at this point in my life. It just upped my mood, you understand?

I had a similar experience with a Warwick Thumb. That bass is pretty much my one and only true GAS. A music go round by my house finally got one (along with a vintage-ish Ric). I remember walking in there and going to that beautiful Thumb, 5 string, broad neck, bubinga body. It was perfect. I remember playing it for like a half hour at the store and it was just amazing. I feel your pain brother

It's not pain at all, actually :roflmao: I feel like Dante at the end of the Divine Comedy. I feel like I've returned home a better man.

German Warwicks aren't usually in stores either, so I might just have another experience like this with one too.

Search for it on here and you should find posts about it--it involed signing up for a program of theirs (backstage pass I think it was called-some sort of discount/loyalty thing) and then talking them into allowing a 20% off coupon to be used on a Rick.
Personally, I bought my 4004 used here on TB and my 4003 from Wildwood and was very pleased with both experiences. If you buy used on here, you can get a 4003 for between $1200-1400.
