Local to me - looks like a Squier VM 77 Jazz perhaps. An abandoned relic job... "interesting" appearance. But aside from the finish, the other parts are in good condition.

Besides the price, how does it play? If it has a nice sound, grab it. Could always be a loner for someone you know. 2nd or 3rd practice backup. Just makes sure you're happy with how it plays.

Welp... stupid me waited too long, got busy at work, and now it's pending. Wasn't meant to be I suppose.

VM's are proven great instruments. I have 2. That one is ugly. I'd buy it in a heart beat. Take the neck off the body, use paint remover and lots of sand paper to remove all paint and finish. Reassemble with a raw natural wood body and originally finished neck. Add your favorite strings, set it up perfectly and off to the gigging world she goes. (as I did one of mine).

Definitely a bargain if the neck is in good shape and will be used with THIS exact bass. As a replacement neck for another body I'm not so sure... I seem to remember that the necks on these VMs weren't compatible with standard Fender specs. I might be wrong though...?

I'd grab that for sure if it plays and sounds good. You could even throw some wood putty in that gouge and do a single-color paintjob if it wears on you that much.

Even if you have no use for it, buy it and give it to a school or a music program or a family who's kid wants to play. Maybe sand it down first though.

Yes, it could be cool as is, would be a great project/mod platform, and you could sell the parts (or probably the whole thing) for more than $80
