In a best products thread several years ago, I praised a Mr. Coffee that gave me 20+ years of great coffee without a hitch or hiccup. And it only cost me about $25. I went on and on about how companies don't make things like that these days, and they deserved all the praise in the world.

With a smile on my face, I bought myself a smaller one and threw out the perfectly functioning one.

A year later it doesn't work.

I take back my praise.

Any coffee maker recommendations?

We have a Hamilton Beach Sta or Go unit. Been crankin for years. The jug is well insulated and there is no heater under it. This might be why it has lasted so long but it is a pretty big unit. 10cups. Small units? Can't help ya. Heck , with the kids all moved out me and Seahag (my lovely wife) still drain the thing daily.


And yes , for the grammar police I know it's supposed to be Seahag and I. Just couldn't resist the chance to put me first. Hope she doesn't see this.:bag:

My wife and I have one that has an oddball name, an elephant as the logo, and was made in Japan. We are on our second one, because the first one quit working. The thermos part is great. I'm not so convinced by the heating coil. Hence, no ringing endorsement from me. Plus, it's pretty big, so probably not what you are looking for. It makes good coffee so long as you keep the filter cleaned. Let grounds get into places they shouldn't be and it overflows in a strange way and makes a huge mess. There you go - an absolutely worthless post full of non information! It's a calling.

We switched to an electric kettle to quickly boil water. Nestle instant coffee crystals along with half and half, make a decentcuppajoe.

Put the coffee, a bit of powdered chocolate and cinnamon in your cup, fuse with super heated boiling water (it takes way less than a minute) while stirring. Then add half and half to your preferred tan color.

Water drips through grounds. Don't overthink it, my friend.

Get the cheap one. In fact, get two. Put one in the closet. When the first one plays out, whip out the backup.

We've had a cheap one from Walmart for about 5 years. It was on sale for aroun $30. It's red. It drips water through coffee grounds.

My condolences to you and your wife for your loss.

We got a 2-cup Cuisinart because the glass carafes on the Mr. Coffee 2-cup kept cracking with the slightest glancing hit on the marble counter top, and replacements cost nearly as much as the whole thing. Cuisinart has a metal carafe.

Hey, Joe, welcome to the world of disposable everything.

We never actually buy anything, we just rent stuff for awhile, then you start over again.

Can't stay in business when your products last decades.

I represent Mr Coffee company and i´m afraid to tell you that the praise that you gave us is and will still be valid for eternity, for more information you can look on your contract page 7 paragraph B sub-section 3j were you´ll find the "No backsies" policy.
I hope you (you´re legally forced to:smug:) keep enjoying the Mr Coffee products.
