I won't say that I'm gas free, but after purchasing the sadowsky I no longer gas after many mid-priced basses anymore. I remember a time when I only had a P bass and whenever I walked into a music store I would drool. Nowadays, most stores in my area don't have gear which is half as nice as the sadowsky. Of course, the classifieds here on TB are a completely other story.
I've recently purchased a CIJ fender 62 reissue fretless (just because I felt like purchasing a new instrument and a fretless was frankly the only thing I could justify purchasing - cause I did not have one.
Nowadays, I see basses I like (usually pretty expensive) but I know that, whilst they may give me something differently tonally, most will not be hugely better than the basses I currently have, at least not better enough to justify me spending that kind of money.
That reasoning stops me from purchasing new basses. I'm not sure I'd call that GAS free since I would still like some other basses but know I cannot justify purchasing them so I don't.
