Actually, I did the same with my Markbass Traveler 121H (1x12") and I'm really happy with it too. I'm just left with the impression that the Bergs might be the ultimate in 1x12"s, from everything that I've read here on TB.

Still, I'm not complaining (for once :rolleyes: ) :smug: .

I've only just recently bought a LMII, and haven't had a chance to rehearse or gig with it, but it sounds very good (and way too loud) when I play through it by myself in my apartment. What I like the most is that my three basses sound distinctly different when played through it. The diminuitive size and light weight is simply icing on the cake.

Now all I wish that someone could build a speaker cabinet as light as the amp. My EBS Neo 1x12 is a bit too heavy and bulky. ;)

I have the Mini CMD 121 and a 151HF Standard to hurt people with. The little 12" in that combo is so articulate and musical, I can't imagine that coveting a Berg would be necessary. I actually will be exchanging my 151HF for the 121 Traveler if/when GC gets them in. The 151 is overhill. I should have taken note that Tom Bowlus didn't do a 15" shootout.

You've got a point there, lousybassist (great name, btw :smug: ).

Even Markbass couldn't come up with a 1x12" as light as the EBS Neo112! My Traveler 121H weighs 50% more, at a mighty 15.5kgs!

I guess MB are not only about lightweight, after all.

I've never tried MB gear, but the high power, low weight approach definitely works for me. Yeah, I'm strong enough to move my 89 lb. Goliath III cab fairly easily, and I have just enough of an attention span to hook up the Speakon cable when I use my all G-K rig. But you know what? I dislike unnecessary effort of any sort, so I'd rather not. I'm not lazy (IMO, my wife's may differ); I just appreciate efficiency. So I'd prefer a powerful, light combo that takes up less room in the car, requires only one hand to carry, and is less hassle to load in and set up. But unless I try MB and am very impressed, I think mine will be Roland D-BASS -- when I get around to it. ;)

I just played my LMII with Berg HT112/EX112 mini stack to a large Street party/Biker event this weekend on an outdoor stage. I was blown away with the punch, the way it cut in the band mix and the overall tone. I was worried that I wouldn't have enough power or volume for this large gig with no FOH PA support. But in fact, my drummer and guitarist asked to turn down a little.

I was simply blown away and totally impressed with the LMII/Bergie HT112/EX112 rig. We were playing fairly loud classic rock and blues for this event. Guitarist was playing through a Marshall JCM100 212 combo.

I used my LMII at rehearsal today. Played through my 1x15 TE cab. Very happy with it, we play loud, and it cut through well with a lot of punch. The lead singer turned around to look at it at one point , shook his head in disbelief, and called it a sick little rig. Everyone pretty much laughed at it when i pulled it out of my little cord case( an old briefcase), but by the end of practice, they were all amazed. Cant wait to get her onstage through a full stack and hear it!

Yeah it is quite punchy, though I really like how punchy it can be. Besides with the parametric its not too hard to even out the sound.

I like many bought purely on the issues of weight, sound & price. I'm a ALL tube amp lover & have been for 30 yrs. But I got an offer of a LMII for a great price, wanted a 'back up' amp AND an amp that will work well for UPRIGHT bass-also one that wasn't a 'weight' to carry, AND it sounds DAMN good IMO -has exactly the right amount of wattage for my cabs also................. so answer was EZ! & I LIKE it! I still love my tube amps better, tho! But for when I've had a hard weekend/day & don't wanna carry a 75lb/40lb amp or am doing a smallish gig where I just use my Aguilar GS112-the LMII works a treat!

From what I've seen most of the people hyping them own them. What's really cool is that some of the people hyping them the most are those that were initially very skeptical.

I didn't buy mine because it's light... that's a bonus. I bought it because it has a mix of tone and volume I currently didn't have... even with one rig that's more than double the wattage. It's not all about wattage, it's not all about weight, it definitely isn't about looks.

It's not for everyone, nothing is. OTOH for the people who do like what it does, it is very hype-worthy. I've contributed to that hype simply because I know many, many people will be just as surprised and pleased with the LMII as I am, based on the feedback I've gotten IRL and knowing what I know.

For the people who are deriding the amps without any experience, careful... you may one day have to eat crow;)

Of course it's all about what "you" want.

A scooped sound is actually pretty easy to get with the LMII and the VPF. Not saying you don't know how to operate one of these but describe how you had the amp set. Many people screw up the sound by not knowing how the two voicing controls work. Simple but powerful, this became pretty obvious the first time someone said the LMII had no highs;)

Set flat, my LMII with an SWR Triad nailed that sound. I don't prefer that sound so I don't use that setup. The setup I do prefer doesn't have the scooped mids sound.

We have large PA cabs, power and effects racks, keyboards,lighting and 100's of lbs of speaker cables and mic cables. Yes I have gone from 80 lb cabs to two 40 lb cabs and a 16 lb head because I keep my gear in my control, not a band truck. So from my perspective 16 lbs on a head is no big deal. I do see for a college student or someone who is inter city micro would be an advantage. Although if I was gonna get mugged I might want a 20 lb head to wack the attacker with :D Maybe the next models they can work on color selection. Keep in mind this is coming from someone who also finds the Bongo to be so visually offensive I couldn't consider owning one no matter how they sound. :hiding: Now have I offended enough of you yet?

I think you may have figured it out by now, but you are obviously not the target market for this project. I have a 37lb 2x10 cab and a 33lb amp right now. I am waiting to sell a couple of things and then I will pickup a MB head of some sort. It just seems silly to have a head that weighs as much as my cab, when my volume requirements can be met by a much lighter head.
