I thought I'd share with y'all...

...what it is that's been eating up my time that used to be spent playing bass.
Check it out.
I was introduced to this in the spring semester of my freshman year at USC, and I've been doing it as regularly as possible ever since.

Also, you will not see me in that video. You will, however, see Spider Man. Tobey's stunt double in the next flick. Keep an eye out for Holland - that'd be Spider Man.

So...are you the guy doing the "rings", the homeless guy hanging out, or the guy getting arrested???

Just kidding! Looks like you need some muscle to do that! Won't be in MY future, but it looks really interesting!
(Doesn't load very vast, though...at least for me.)

heya sheepy! so do you not play anymore?
Hey JT, I still play, just not nearly as often as I used to, although now that I'm doing occupational therapy, I just might have to start playing more again.

Actually, as a little ice breaker, they asked us what our favorite occupations were, and the first thing that came to my mind was swinging on the traveling rings, and not playing bass. :bawl:

Umm...I ripped my left hand? Does that count as "something happening?" :p

But seriously, I think you really hit the nail on the head. It's really nothing, just a lot of fun to do. Most people who walk by will see it and respond with a "wow," "ooh," "aah," or other noise of awe or amazement.

It's just a lot of fun, really.

As for the music, you may have noticed in the first video a lot of them had ipods or other music devices with headphones. Most of the guys (and girls) like to swing to a soundtrack, but I find I actually enjoy it more and perform better when I'm not listening to anything in particular.

Also, I don't do any flips/legs through rings/skips/recatches/dislocates/inlocates/other fancy stuff on the rings. I used to, but right now I'm mostly just enjoying that feeling of flying through the air. With my arm attached to a chain.

Nice job. That looks like great fun and must take some real upper-body and arm strength.
Actually, you don't really need to much strength. If you can support your weight while hanging onto a bar/ring/other object with one hand, you can do the traveling rings.

Of course, the more strength you have, the higher and faster you can swing, but the main thing is just to have as much fun as you can.

Any LA TBers want to come give it a shot? PM/email/AIM/etc. me and we can figure out a time when we're all free. :D
