I wanna find a bass

Idk if this too specific for a larger manufacturer, but I'm looking for 32" scale 5-string active pj bass that is fretless. Is this something that a company like Ibanez makes, or would I have to go to a custom builder

It all depends on your budget. If you have $500 in your pocket you'll be hard pressed to find a stock model that checks all your boxes. If you have $3K to spend on a custom instrument there are a number of luthiers who would have no problem building a bass that fits what you describe. The biggest challenge would be having a low B that sounds good at a short scale, though a high C string works just fine on my 30" bass.

A Google search on 32" scale basses will bring up lots of models and discussion threads that will help get you started.

Medium-scale fretless basses are rare outside of custom builds. There's the Ibanez AEB8E (discontinued) and AEGB24FE but they're acoustic bass guitars rather than solid body electric.

You could buy a 32" fretted and defret it, or have a luthier defret it for a couple hundred dollars. Make sure you find one who knows what they're doing because it's more involved than just removing the frets and filling the fret slots.

This is the best answer, Warmoth has incredible builds. My fretless 5 Gecko is awesome and they have necks with all types of woods and specs

That’ll be a tough one to find. I can get you through everything but the “fretless” part. That’s probably going to be a custom build.

Warmoth are amazing, but they don't currently do 32-inch 5-strings. I wish they did! All their SSB parts are 4-string.

Yeah fretless is probably the hardest request, easily a neck swap or building your own at that point.
However with Ibanez I find their necks are so skinny already, if you haven't tried any maybe judge their standard 5 strings.

Cheapest/fastest route may be pulling the frets from a used Mezzo.

Otherwise, prepare to "assume the position". lol

Birdsong’s are 31” but their head luthier, Jake Goede, does his own thing on the side and will make you anything your heart desires .
