Its in the shop now,it will have a sliding pickup with 2 coil taps if everything goes well.

Maybe? I picked it up on Craigslist on the cheap (it was bundled with that SX fretless). It has a scroll head, hollow body, and no identifying marks. Also some horrible neck dive and neck bowing, but it's got a great sound when it's strung up with flats.

Edit: Just had a chance to look it up, and I think you're right. Thanks for the ID for that! Been curious about that for a couple years.

That was my very first bass (over 40 years ago) and I've never ever seen another one in real life!

Cool! I haven't seen another one like it either, which is A) Why I bought it and B) Why I had no idea what it was. :p

Like I said, it's got a really cool sound to it, especially with flats.

I never get tired of showing this one...
My NEO RockBass, custom built by Pennsylvania luthier Rich Roland.
It sports a graphite neck with a rosewood board running through a translucent white acrylic hollow body (shaped like two swimming bass crossing one another), and is internally illuminated with real neon via a 12-volt battery pack or wall wart.
Hardware is by Gotoh, and the active pickups are EMGs. It has a very modern sound with a lot of resonance & warmth, and never fails to drop jaws when I fire up the neon... :bassist:
