I wanna see some unique basses

Built by scottyd a few years ago, who used to frequent this forum. It's bounced around the forum a few times before landing in my hands. As far as I know, this is the only four-string single-cut bass he made with a buckeye top

It seems there are only two of these (so, not fully but quite unique), which are normally fretless instruments. Here is my beautiful "Thor" a fretted fBass AC6.

Is that made of redwood?

Padauk - and that is the natural color. Some folks said it would turn dark with age but it is two years old now and looks the same.

Here's a bass I'm just finishing up. I guess it's not SUPER unique, but a bit different....

This was my wife’s old Squier P Bass that I had bought off of her while we were still dating. I went to college and didn’t take the bass with me, it sat in a closet for 4 years and I didn’t dig it out for another almost 2 years after college.

Fast-forward to about a month ago, I get the idea to redo the bass completely. Swapped the stock Squier pickups for a set of Lace Aluma-P’s, wired them so that they can either be summed to one output jack, or split so that the top pickup is used for the two lower strings, and the bottom pickup is used for the four higher strings.

I also drilled and installed two new Grover Mini tuners and added a new Schaller 8 string bridge, along with installed a brass nut from AxeMasters and installed 2 octave strings on the D + G strings. Essentially the idea was to play the bottom half like a guitar and the top half like a bass. Ive been experimenting with different ways of playing the bass, but I’m having a lot of fun with it.

Definitely a fun, easy, worthwhile modification!

My unique bass. The body is my own design, and it was built by a colleague. It's the only instrument he ever made.
And he won't make any others, as he's out of business.

BTW, the neck is off a Yamaha RBX260 with matching walnut veneer.
EMG pup and active electronics, Schaller 3d bridge.
