I want a RickenBacker 4003

You're welcome, Mike Parks is a very easy guy to deal with and has never steered anyone wrong that I am aware of!


On the other side, a Ric and a P bass do not have any tonal similarities since the Ric is a single coil setup and the P is a humbucker. Even if the back pickup is in the same spot, the tone is night and day-especially for bottom end...the P bass has a lot more bottom, in the 80 Ricks I have had, there has never been a comparison in tone. I use a P if I need that tone otherwise, I stick to the Ric...

I think they can pull very similar tones actually. If you want to test your ears- listen to the band Invalid Link Removed and 'pick the Ric'. Andy Kent uses Rics and P's

I'm a firm believer of "tone is in the fingers". Give me a P, J Ric, Thunderbird, Stingray, Steinberger, EB3, Warwick, Ibanez or whatever, wearing the same type of strings, and I'll make them all sound the same.

I can't believe the price increase that Ric has had in the year since I bought mine

I payed $1,400 from Musicians friend and had it in less than a week


with a 2 year warranty


and now I just had an email quote for the same bass I bought. $1,995


Ric is being a little shady on the situation. Economic times are hard, and if they would honestly say that they needed to raise prices in order to pay themselves and their workers more to live under these conditions, then thats great. But instead they say

"
Effective today is a new price list which includes a significant increase. This directly reflects higher costs for oil-based products (such as the finish and plastic goods), steel parts, and imported components adversely affected by exchange rates (such as keywinds)."

Are you honestly going to tell me that Ric is using $500 worth of plastic parts and laquer?

I WAS JUST WONDERING EXACTLY HOW AND WHY RICKENBACKER BASS HAVE DOUBLED IN PRICE OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS. I BOUGHT ONE BRAND NEW IN LATE 2004 OR EARLY 2005 AND IT COST $1099 IN ANY COLOR. NOW THEY'RE OVER $2000 BRAND NEW. CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED? THANKS
