I was asked "Do you slap the bass?"

I just tell them: "Oh man! I tried so hard…but I just can't do it."

That gets them off my case quicker than telling them I actually worked at it until I could slap and pop - just to prove to myself I could - but would rather not play that way because I don't care at all for how it sounds.

They think I'm a dork. But they also go away. So it's a win-win.

I'm good with that.

A friend said to me after first seeing my band "that was awesome, you really slappa the bass" ... which kind of annoyed me, cuz I did no such thing. I later saw the reference, and don't hold it against him anymore.

I get the same reaction too when I tell people that I play bass. If they have seen this movie then they go into this bit too:

I find it comical although others find it offensive or just poor taste.

I'm just wondering who could possibly be "offended" or find this "in bad taste" ???

Sidenote: Dang, that actress (I forget her name) is sooooo cute! drool Edit: Rashida Jones!

Here was the original posting on 'Slappa Da Bass' "Slappa da baaaass! Right! Slappa da baaaass!"
Some people dig it when it said to them and some not. IDK, I still find it funny b/c at least they know more about bass than my wife does.

Just to clarify: Her mother is Peggy Lipton (a popular actress in the 70's and very pretty) and her father is Quincy Jones. I thought the whole RUSH worship portrayed in that film was hilarious!
