After composing myself, I gave this matter a lot of thought, and have decided that Mark Hoppus is the right guy for the job. Robert Trujillo, Jason Newsted, and Cliff Burton are (or were, in Cliff's case) talented bass players, but Metallica's style isn't really conducive to... well, talented bass players. If good ol' root-fifth Hoppus is willing to detune (what is Metallica playing at now, drop-C?) and turn down the tone knob on that Fender of his, they can start recording.

Replace Kirk, Robert, Lars, and James...
Then call the band a whole different name.
They would PROBABLY be good then... ;):p

Metallica were once great. I agree with Joe they started fading since the black album. But if you don't like them, don't listen to them and stop bashing, you whiners! :mad:

I wonder what would've happened if Les Claypool did get the job when he auditionned for them when Cliff passed away? Would've they went the pop metal route anyway? :confused:

BTW, Megadeth made some pretty sh*tty albums in the mid '90s, too... :spit:

Then didn't accept him because he was too good... I mean, I remember watching an interview about that, they probably wouldn't want him to "steal" the show with his out of this world bass playing. They just want a 5 minute guitar solo 2 times per song.

Yeah man. I never really dug them in the first place. But I will admit they have a few (some) good songs, probably not more than 10.;)
