I will never forget.

I was in 7th grade. We heard about it in Civics Class. It also hit closer home then I thought. My former scoutmaster's brother was in the 2nd tower, above the 110th floor.
My former scoutmaster is also one of the firefighters seen in the photo rigging the giant flag on the pentagon. They had him do it because he was the only one who knew how to tie the knots.

Prior to 9/11 I'd never experienced an historical event where I would forever remember where I was when it occurred, like my parents had with JFK's assassination.

For me the only comparable thing to 9/11 was when Reagan was shot. I remember seeing the news feeds for it live, and I was only 6yo at the time.

9/11 I caught on CNN getting ready for work. I turned it on (with no pre-warning) just as the second plane hit. Needless to say, I'll never forget it.

It really sickened me, but yesterday I read some threads on another music forum about how some people would celebrate the day (these were Americans.) I guess they were trying to be cute, but it was really disrepectful and cruel stuff. Pure trash.

Earlier this week, I saw a special on the History Channel concerning 9/11. They showed footage of people who jumped or fell from the towers. Even after all this time I had not seen that footage. I cannot imagine the despair those people must have felt at that time. You can laugh at me, but I wept.

I feel the same way whenever I see that footage. I can't even imagine. I remember watching live when it was happening. :atoz:

That's is one day I'll never forget. I remember that we just brought our son home from the hospital a few days before that. I can't believe that it's been 8 years! I can't believe my son is 8!

We were working. My boss, Joe, came in & told us a plane hit the towers.
We laughed at first & said: "No way Joe, no pilot could miss something that big!!"

My partner Bobby said that it probably had something to do with that "Bin Laden guy"
We hadn't heard of him.
We thought it was some kinda bad joke.

Then we heard a second plane hit the towers. It was then that we realized it was no joke.

Truthfully I didn't think of an intentional attack.
I know it could have been nothing else, but it seemed to unreal to be an attack.
Who would be crazy enough to fly themselves into a tower!?!?

Well, I guess I now understand how fanatical some people are.
SAD.

Shortly after, I heard all kinda stuff about why they did it etc.

I figure if you want to attack someone, it makes it wrong to attack just anyone

I mean, what the heck did those people at work, kids in day care etc. have to do with the attackers!?!?!?

If I hate my neighbor Bob, I don't attack his accountant.
I dunno, they make no sense to me.

I'd say, if anything, it's a good day to honor those innocent people. They are in my prayers.

I was in 8th grade at the time. My math teacher came in and started talking about a plane hitting the towers. At first we thought he was setting up a math problem, so we started jotting down notes. Took us a bit to realize what he was saying was actually happening. At first we thought a random cessna had hit one of the Towers but later were told what happened.

I lived near an airport at the time and I remember how strange it was not seeing anything in the sky.

One of those moments that you will always remember exactly what you were doing when you heard....

I was walking into class (senior year of high school) and a friend says, "Turn on the tv, some idiot flew a plane into the World Trade Center." The first plane had JUST hit. So, we turned it on in class and were watching as the second plane hit. And as they each fell.

There really were no words to explain. It was difficult to comprehend what we were seeing.

9/11 was the reaction of pent up rage and American politicians telling the east's people they are wrong,

ANY society that allows a minority of its people to act in such a manner IS wrong. ANY religion that allows its views and beliefs to be twisted and used as justification for such a heinous, barbaric, and COWARDLY act, IS wrong.

If "the east's people" want to be left to their devices, they need to control the fanatics in their midst. If those of the Islamic persuasion wish to be treated by the rest of us as equals, they need to act in a reasonable, rational manner, and put a leash on those that would use their faith to commit such acts.

:scowl:

However that does NOT excuse the awful awful time, and the organization/people who did it will never be punished in a suitable way, even after death

RIP to all who died

Here we can agree.

Was my day off, watching the news...both thru first report of first plane hitting, then the live feed as the second one struck. News about the Pentagon, and then the 4th plane going down in PA. I remember crying off and on all day. Having been in the USAF, and a security police officer, and writing my masters thesis on terrorism, I was certainly aware that the US was overdue for terror attacks, but when it actually happened, it was a shock... Unfortunately, terrorists LOVE to hurt and kill the innocent; they're as much after the publicity and the shock value; the 'anyone can be a target, even if they have nothing to do with whatever the terrorists are upset about!' reaction that makes everyone nervous and jumpy for weeks & months afterward. You EXPECT military personnel, police, etc to get shot at and perhaps killed/injured on occasion; but you don't expect anyone to target pre-schoolers, everyday workers, etc. I think the US lost some of its innocence that day.

15 I was, on the way home from school, heard it on the radio, came home to a house full of stunned people, saw the tv.

Then the magnatude of what happened hit me, I was watching clips of the world changing, in minutes, lasting forever....

My heart goes out to all the innocents lost that day, and their familys.

I have no doubt I'll get flamed for this, and I couldn't care less:

Let's not forget the TENS of THOUSANDS of Iraqis that died as a direct result of those attacks either. Most of these dead Iraqis were innocent people that had families and friends that continue to mourn their loss just like the deceased from 9/11.

I'd say more, but it would then turn blatantly political.
