I will never see Rush live...

Only ever saw them on the Hemispheres tour....I literally can't remember one thing about it,except it was in a mid-sized auditorium.

Oh well,...I've got the albums,CDs,.....

That was the other reason I stopped going to shows, because when I try to look back on my life and imagine that night, only a few stick out. The reasons they stick out are usually not because of the performance.
For instance, almost being crushed to death at a Slayer show in San Diego. Crashing my car right before seeing KISS. As proven earlier in this thread. I couldn't even remember if they had makeup on that night.
I realized later that I've never seen the real KISS in full regalia, but I did see a tribute band that was so authentic it was uncanny.

I remember Lita, because I got to speak with her. I remember Testament, because we got to hang out with them, drink some beer & play some pool.
For the shows where I stood WAY back and watched, I can barely remember them, even the big ones like Metallica & Ozzy.

Oh wait, I remember Danzig, because he kicked a guy in the face that night, for calling him a satanist, and I got laid by this really cool Goth chick.

Oh, and following Motorhead down to South Carolina, because they got canceled from their gig in North Carolina. They played a small venue that night with Metal Church, who also got booted from the bigger venue.
Lemmy even writes about it in his book, which I found pretty cool, since I was sort of part of it.

The biggest thing I remember about my last Metallica show was that Frank Zappa died that night, and they played a recording of Frank's, Crew Slut, over the PA during their break.

The last time I saw Rush was on the Feedback tour. Geddy's voice was already strained at that point, and I decided then on that I'd prefer to just remember them the way they were instead of watching a 50+ year old guy strain his way through another concert.

Besides, you might as well have called their last tour the "Cash it in" tour for the ticket prices they were charging.

You missed out. I do a Rush tribute and it's the most fun I've ever had in my life playing music. Always a challenge and I'm blown away by how many people are Rush fans coming out of the woodwork to see us.

They are an amazing band to see live... er.... were. :/

I've seen Rush a dozen times including the last one. $200 per seat was steep but I had to go. I'm done with going to big shows for the most part but I sortta knew this was it for Rush.

Prior to that I saw Sound Garden with NIN outdoors, far away and basically just watched them on a big screen. If the tickets weren't free I wouldn't have gone.

The moment for me is being right in front of the band, not half a mile away in the nosebleed seats. If I want to watch them on a big screen, I'll just put their concert in my Blu-Ray player & sit really close to my television.

Was at three shows where I didn't make it to the front. Stones, was pretty far away, ACDC , still close enough and one year Billy Idol played at the annual free city festival - I was late and the place was packed. Glad I saw him last year from 10 ft away. Guy's stage presence is unmatched. His LPs can't deliver that.

I guess the bands try to draw more crowd by having lavish stage productions, but I never gave a toss about that.

I only saw them during the Roll the Bones tour, but I'm not a huge fan. If anyone else went to the Madison Square Garden show, I was the black guy.

I wish I would've been able to find the time or get tickets to go see them. I'm only 25, and I haven't exactly had ample opportunities to see them.

But, I have been able to see a ton of awesome shows in my life, so I definitely haven't missed out on too much.

I have to admit, the majority of groups that have visited Alaska are either unappealing or full of suck (imo). So I guess my filter doesn't help either.

I've seen them 20 times since the Hemispheres tour back in '78. They're one of the best live bands I've ever seen. I was also in a Rush cover band for several years. Really had a great time and was the most fun of any group I've ever been in. Hard to tell about their retiring though. I guess it's mainly up to Neil whether he wants to keep on recording music. Doesn't sound like he's really communicated very much with Geddy and Alex about it at all.
