I won a Virtual Dynamics Power 3 Cable

But will it add 10 dB of gain to an Eden 1205? :hiding:

Greg Backstrom

The one I had needed about 40! And after their 'update', about another 30.

I couldn't get the green gain light to come on with a keyboard (!) plugged into the front end... line level. Cranked. And clipping - forget it.

And the way they treated me, the mere mention of that company raises my blood pressure. They're getting their just deserts now... word is gradually spreading.

BTW, after the 1205 fiasco, I stupidly went and bought a WT800B, which has blown out each channel systematically in the year and a half I've owned it (both times a startup failure; I wasn't actually playing the amp at the time), plus a CXC110 for the college I teach at, which just blew the entire main board and had to be replaced. The repair centre in Vancouver here quit dealing with Eden, too much BS, not getting paid, etc. Took about a month for them to talk some other poor slob into accepting their ****. Never again, man, I tell ya.

And yes, you've got the right guy. And yes I sure seem to draw heat. Don't know if anyone read my first post, but I thought this power cable was totally ridiculous when I first got it. I only went to their website initially from another posting here on talkbass saying how ridiculous this company was for putting out such obscenely expensive stuff, and entered the contest on a whim. Personally, I still feel that if you have the kind of dough to spend $13,500.00 on a freaking power cable, you should be spending it trying to solve the AIDS crisis in Africa, or here at home, or you could feed about 500 starving children for a couple of months. This kind of decadence should NOT be allowed in our society, and should be absolutely CRUSHED when it's found out, IMHO. Some people are out there buying $6,000.00 shoes, and I once saw a belt for $3,600.00; meanwhile, it is estimated that about 30,000 children starve to death each day. And then we get into the adults. It's just sick man, and I really do NOT support this kind of stuff.

That being said, I plugged the cable in and VOILA! Instant placebo effect. It was wonderful.

;)

Cheers,
Cameron

When I read stuff like that, words fail me.:rollno:
I don't think they're entirely barmy. At one time, they suggested taking a photograph of yourself and placing it in your freezer to improve your system's sonics. Hmm, thought I, so I decided to do a blind test. I took a photo of my butt, and next time I was at a 'phile mate's house, I hid it in his freezer. Next day he phoned and told me his system suddenly sounded like ass.

Congratulations, you have added one more little treasure to the grand storehouse of knowledge.;)

If you really want to be an Audiophile here's what you do. Walk to the local toy store and buy a bag of marbles. Cut a small hole in your pocket, just large enough for one marble at a time to pass through. Put the marbles in your pocket. Walk home, whilst listening to your IPod. By the time you get home you will have lost all your marbles, making you an Audiophile. :hyper:

Thank you for this, I spewed my drink all over my desk.:bassist:

A $13,000 cable is excessive but spending $300 for "a little bit" of difference in stead of, say, buying 300 vitamin A supplement to save 300 kids in Africa from blindness isn't? Or were you kidding ? If not, don't even go there.

A question: If I were to play a recording through my amp using power cable 1 and measured the signal at DI via multimeter, oscilloscope, and frequency analyzer, then did the same for cable 2, would that be an acceptable test to measure impact? If not, what are the flaws of this type of test?
