Ibanez 5-String Hollowbody

The wood felt too week, like it'd break (both body and neck), same for the hardware (safe for the bridge perhaps). The pickups aren't too good, kind of weak and don't really have much versatility, really hard to get different sounds, even when soloing the pickups. The knobs felt cheap too, the whole bass feels cheap, that's the thing

How much experience do you have with hollow and semi-hollow body basses? My AGB140 is considerably larger than my Washburn Taurus, but it weighs a lot less. I could understand where someone who is very accustomed to the usual heft of most bass guitars would find one that feels so much lighter than expected and think it is cheap.

Just saw this on Musician's Friend. All I can say is instant GAS. Sure, the string spacing looks pretty narrow (I'd guess 16mm or 15mm), but the idea of this bass is very cool to me. :hyper:

Not sure why it's called the AFB205 when it looks more like the AGB200; AGB205 might make more sense. Nothing about it on Ibanez website yet, which I find odd. must be a NAMM thing.

Would you rock one??

I would like to play one of those ...

Concerns:
- neck dive
- short scale
- pickup type and placement
-15 mm bridge spacing

Coolness:
- hollow bodied 5 string
- nice retro looks

It can probably cop the Hofner, Gibson EB-2 type tone.

What strikes me first is very positive: with the tuners configured 2 (B&E) + 3 (ADG), and the tailpiece set back, like the reissue Harmony H22 Bass, it appears that you use regular long scale strings on it, which greatly expands a player's choices, not having to look for medium or short scale B strings.

My only concern is that the neck pickup, like most other traditional hollow body basses, including such venerable single-cutaways as the Hofner Senator, is at the 24th fret, which may be too dark for a B string. But I'll have to play one to see.

what strings for these have you guys been using?
These:

They worked fine, but I ended up returning it to GC as I just couldn't bond with the string spacing, and tone. My basses are tools for the many cover bands that I sub for, and this bass just didn't fit the bill for my variety of tonal needs.

It was a beauty though.
