Ibanez BTB 406?

I stumbled upon this amazing ad today....
And its my birthday in a while :)

Its about $585.

Thoughts? I've always wanted a six string and I played a SR506 at the weekend and the neck was sexy....

Is it a good deal?

In the US I think they retailed for around $675. I would consider that price a little high. Just because it's in "excellent condition" does not mean they still won't go for half of the retail. I don't know how hard basses are to find where you live, or how they are priced compared to the US. However if you liked the SR506 you will love that BTB. Very excellent bass. A little more girth to the neck than the SRs but still has the signature Ibanez speed. I love those basses.

I have 2 thoughts in mind. I'm assuming the BTB in the classifieds you listed is local or at least you can go and try the instrument. Being able to try the instrument is a Big +. The price, as you've stated is roughly $585.

I might also be curious of the full price at Guitar Centre. Try the search in Guitar Center. When you see the item I was talking about, click on "Request More Info". In the message box, ask about shipping to Ireland. The bass is already priced at $299, so the full price will most likely be under $585. (Even to Ireland, there's no way the shipping should amount to $286.) Hmm... but there may be some duty to pay upon its arrival. It may cost less but you won't have a chance to test it personally before buying.
