I am curious about what the difference in tone would be between these two since they both use the T1 pickups. I know that obviously there is a difference in scale length and body woods. I also think the EHB has the vari mid preamp. Which of the two basses is the better bass? Weight wise I’m sure the EHB would win. But how about tonewise?

Comfort and playability the EHB will run circles around the BTB. EHB is built with ergonomics in mind, and in my experience the BTB body is arguably the opposite lol...If you're playing frequent long gigs or rehearsals - the EHB can be life changing, speaking from experience.

The deciding factor probably comes down to that scale length difference you noted, with the full 37" scale low B on the BTB (vs 35" on EHB). That'll affect tone more than the minutiae of body wood differences, and tone will be further affected by the more limited string options.

All circumstantial and situational... BTB's a damn fine bass but I'd still vote EHB every time.

Play chord and tapping, EHB.
Aggressive pick playing, BTB.

I choice the model in between, SRMS725. I play finger style only and NYXL MS or. Dingwall set do fit.
Meanwhile prefer Fishman unique voice than T1 pickup.
