Oh yeah, it’s all coming together…

To say I’m excited is an understatement. A massive one.

37” on the B side, neck through, active with bypass…unless the new pickups aren’t up to par, this just seems to be fantastic.

As for price, current preorder listings have the BTB605MS (the blue one) at $1299, the BTB805MS at $1449, and the BTB806MS at $1499.

Ibanez marketing dept apparently has made sure that nobody notices this is a 37'' scale, they couldn't have hidden that info any better in the product description.

Anyway, the price is silly good, the bass looks awesome. 18mm spacing is a departure from the modern BTB but fine. Those pups better be good since they'll be tough to replace with that shape. If everything comes together I promise you'll see my NG3 (which I just can't love) listed shortly.

I’m gonna be honest, as soon as I saw these I immediately started to geek out and went straight to the website. I couldn’t speak for all people, as it may be different across platforms, but scrolling down the page a bunch on mobile got me to the neck dimensions sections where they list them. But they could definitely market it better, for sure.

Me personally, I’m kind of glad this year is a BTB year. The previous few have been dominated, in my opinion, by newer SR models, and of course the new EHB series. But outside of the more recent BTB premiums, and the Iron Label’s of course, I felt the BTB wasn’t getting as much attention in terms of variety changes, and was lacking in innovation. But hey, that’s subjective I suppose :)

37" will also put off a good chunk of potential buyers, so best play it low key and let them try them and hope they like it. Best to not conflate what goes on on TB and people's interests here with the real world.
I for one am not interested, but will try one when/if I can get my hands on one. I suspect numbers here will be limited and they'll almost all be pre-sold, at least in the initial shipments.
FWIW, my last new purchase was a BTB.

It’s an odd scale spread I don’t think I’ve seen before, starting at 37” as longest and dropping .5 inches per string. You still end up with a quite tight C and G, which many complain about on longer scaled (35”+) fives and sixes.

I’ll likely give one a try at some point, but suspect I’ll mostly keep sticking with Dingwalls.

Ya those look sick, just hope pickups are good, that is usually the weak point on Ibanez basses. Those look kind of similar in shape to some Lace extended scale pups but they could be different slightly.
