Ibanez BTB multiscales…sheesh

I really want on of these. This demo isn't necessarily my preferred style, but I love the look.
I've got almost enough cash on hand for that blue one. It might be in my future.
It looks like that one could become the Poor Man's Dingwall...
Can't wait to try one... although I was told from a local store that new Ibanez shipments were over 8 months out (hopefully that improves soon)...

I hope to see the import dingwall prices come down a significant amount as a result. IMO the used market price on them is closer to what the new price should be. I get it, they're amazing and niche(were) but the sum of the parts mass produced and imported just doesn't seem to warrant 2.5k give or take.
Ya, I don’t understand all the bad mouthing of the 37” B when Dingwall has been doing this forever.
Let’s just say I’m less optimistic about any of this impacting Dingwall’s market or brand value
As for me, as long as I get a 37’’ with an Ibanez neck, flatter fretboard radius, and without the Dingwall pups & DG preamp that I strongly dislike, I'll happily make the switch at any price point.
It looks like Ibanez really took their time developing this, even thinking about the pickups and thumb placement. I had hoped this was coming last year (the writing has been on the wall for a 37”) but maybe it’s a good thing they needed a little more time. Here’s to hoping they nailed this, as Ibanez almost always does.
I still don't get why Ibanez extends the fretboard past the nut. It looks so sloppy.
that's a joke about the visual body shape, right? just making sure LoL, the btb finishes are outstanding feeling on the skin, no sharp edges. But if ya don't like the cosmetics, that makes sense

interesting! I always though it was elegant, and showed that they don't care about designing for convenience of build, but for the design appearance. extra effort always gets an A+ from me

I owned a BTB 7 and 6 string bass and the edges of the body are on the sharper side, compared to a precision, or stingray, or even an SR ibanez. Thats what he meant
or just those that prefer ibanez to dingwall. I personally didn't love the dingwall I played, although I fully respect it's a very well made and designed instrument. Tone was not interesting to me at all, and the neck shape I wasn't blown away with. Fanned frets also not my thing, but if the bass was amazing I might put in the effort. I owned a btb 6 and a btb 5, and found that thye weren't sharp in the slightest. they have edges where there are round parts on fenders, but sharp? no. nicely shaped and not sharp at all.
I think maybe I'm taking your use of the word sharp literally, like "ouch" sharp, like sharp fret ends etc.
I meant the lack of contouring where your right arm rests and where the bass sits on your leg. I had a BTB for a week that left a bruise on my leg! I have a naive question.
I don't have success playing multiscale, so don't know the standards.
There are a bunch of coments about 37" scale here, and I'm unclear if they are pro or con comments mostly, as it is just about 37" and how the marketing hides that, and how some people thing they hid 37" on purpose.
I mean, in a regular bass, 37" scale is huge. too long for most of us. but in multiscale, is that still true?
are people commenting that the 37" is something remarkable because it is longer than you would expect from ibanez? or shorter? or what?

I owned a combustion and an NG3 and I felt the fit, finish, and sound was on par with any bass Ive owned in the price category. Multiple EBMM (Bongo, Stingrays, specials, bfr, etc) german warwicks, fender elites…the NG3/Combustions either fit right in or exceeded the quality of some of those. If you didnt tell me they were made overseas (and finished in Canada, i know) id never guess. Theyre fine instruments, readily available, and would buy another brand new if I ever had need for a multiscale bass like that.
