Ibanez EHB 1505

Has anyone with one of the EHB's tried adjusting the truss rod? I got a EHB1005MS two weeks ago, and I had some noticeable fret buzz around the lowest frets on the g, d and a string. I tried adjusting the truss rod per the instructions the bass came with (which were generic and not instrument accurate), and it was totally maxed out when I tried to turn in the direction moving allen key from the b towards g string.

Ultimately, I got scared and turned the truss in the other direction, which was the direction it needed and the bass is playing really nicely with no buzz.

Why would a brand new bass come with a maxed out truss rod, or one that can only turn in one direction?

Is there something I don't know, or is this truss rod defective? It's pretty upsetting because otherwise, I really like the bass. A truss rod repair would be covered by warranty since this bass is brand new but I don't love the idea of a brand new bass that needs truss rod surgery out of the box.

To answer the original question on this thread, I find the strings the bass came with to be very noisy, especially at first. I haven't changed them yet but as I spend more time on them, they are mellowing out and are less clanky against my fingers and the frets.

After playing one of these for two days (EHB1500), I think the overtones & harmonics are just a symptom of a really stiff neck (graphite reinforced) & stainless frets.
Personally, I welcome it, & love it!

It's the opposite of resonating, it's so stiff that it's resonant frequency is too high for there to be dead-spots.
It does vibrate well, but let's remember:

I just tried it in my guitar-case & it was too long.
In my Ibanez bass-case it fits fine, with over 15 centimeters of empty space 'above' the neck.

Apparently there is a Mono hybrid case/bag that fits these well.
