Ibanez GSR206 or Brice Z6?

Hey everyone, just thought I'd ask your opinions of two six string basses that I am comparing. I have been on four stringers for over ten years and I've been wanting to get into the extended range bass world for a while now. At first, I was considering a five string but have begun to take notice of the six stringers available out there. I don't want to plunk down a huge amount of cash on a sixer until I know I will stay committed to it. Two models I have in mind are the Ibanez GSR206 and the Brice Z6 sold by Rondo music on their site. I have played the GSR206 at a local Guitar Center and loved the feel and the sound but I am wondering about the Brice and would love to hear from those that have owned a Z6 or currently own one. Any input or opinions on which one is a better deal will be greatly appreciated. I want to avoid the Douglas six string basses and the lower end Brices if at all possible in choosing my first six string.

I would say if you love the feel and sound of the GSR206 that you probably should go with that one. I personally would prefer the Brice based on the ash body (as opposed to agathis on the 206) and the neck-through construction, but you couldn't play the Brice ahead of time to see if you like the sound or feel.

BTW, have you checked out the Brice Defiant 6? Also neck-through, like the Z6. A passive bass but the pickups are splittable - nice feature!!

The Brice is 19mm spacing at the bridge, so the neck is quite a bit wider than the GSR. I personally feel that the Z6 is an amazing value and a lot of bass for the money, but it is a big fella, both the neck and the body. It is far superior to the rest of the Brice line (not too familiar with the Defiant, though)

But if the GSR seems comfortable to you, no reason not to give it a shot .......
