Ibanez GWB35

That wont happen sadly, my chances of finding a shop closeby that has it or any other fretless 5er for that mather is pretty slim. But thing is, sometimes you just wanna dig in. But i doubt the ramp will hinder that ^^ I m kinda wondering if "detachable" means that there will be 4 screw holes in the wood or not and if it can be lowered:P

I just picked up one of these. It's a really nice fretless for around $650. Ergonomically, it's great - light weight, but not too flimsy. I like the ebonol board as well. It's very comfortable under the fingers and produces well-defined notes. You even can tap on it and it sounds good.

The single pickup and somewhat limited (but useful) EQ requires that you rely primarily on your technique and hands for tonal variation.

As for the ramp: something of a tradeoff. If you slap and pop or otherwise dig in, it gets in the way. But that's precisely its point.

Ok, did you try removing it? Did the bass have screw holes in it? Also, two final question, whats the string spacing? Idont expect you to measure. You gave enough info, but just if you feel like it, itd be helpful:) And now the last one. Seeing the space between fingerramp and strings is 4 mm, does it mean it feels like when i play at the neck on my squier? Thats gonna be kinda weird. Thanks.

Haven't tried removing the ramp; I bought the bass precisely for that feature. But it clearly will leave screw holes in the body if you take the ramp off. String spacing feels a little narrower than a jazz - maybe 17 mm at the bridge.

And yes, it does feel like you're right hand is playing over the fingerboard. That is the point of the Willis/ramp concept - it promotes efficient right hand technique and keeps you from digging in. Simply pounding away on the strings -- especially on a fretless -- isn't necessarily the best way to get an assertive or aggresive sound.

Your right, but i dont like the feel on my finger:/ but my current bass is uncoated, so that might be why. But i could just unscrew it if i dont like it:) And im playing metal, which would make it hard to get out the energy with that ramp maybe. Anyway, there some free space to play on too. Im kinda stuck since as it looks now im stuck either with a warwick rockbass (fortress/corvette) or the GWB, atleast until i find more options. The Warwicks will most certainly be uncomfortable for me, because im 165, 15 years old, and my hands arent exactly big. So it kinda goes against the warwick specs.
GWB35 seems to be the better bet:P

Man, I so want one. So much for being GAS free - that lasted about 6 weeks. :D

$480 new is a STEAL. If I had any available cash I'd be on that like white on rice.
