Ibanez only for metalheads now?

By the way, I love how everyone is ignoring the roster and derailed this thread to be about "metal basses"
I think your bassists all play ibanez because when they first walked into a store and looked at all the brand names, IbanezzZzZZz sounded the angriest/most metal-like \m/

probably, because i bet a lot of jazz players walk into a music store, try basses and come to a conclusion that jazz basses sound the most jazz-like, so thats the one they chose to use.
What is your point? are you suggesting that bands such as August Burns Red and As I Lay Dying went into a music store, decided that the ibanez basses looked pretty and bought it instead of playing it first and decided that it sounded the angriest and most metal like?
edit: i misread this. I still don't know what you are trying to suggest, I never said that Ibanez as a name "sounded metal".
Hoshino focuses on Metal because the Japanese can't stand Country & Western!!!
I think youre on to something
I was merely jesting. I think a lot of the ibanez models have a metalish sound and snarl a bit if you want them to, but i was playing the btb570, 780 and the SR700 and they have a nice clean sound with the bartolini pickups. I managed to play them very dynamically and got any sound i wanted out of them really. I like the btb so much i ordered myself a 780
Hoshino allocates certain models to certain regions based on a number of factors like past popularity and importer status. North America will of course get the pick of the litter as will Japan (naturally) otherwise it can be a bit of touch and go.
here in aussieland we have the BTB670 - halfway between your 570 and 780.

when it comes to signature models and or limited runs all major importers have a shot at nabbing the product, we just got our hands on the S100SPL - it was a celebratory guitar for hoshino's 100 years of existance. (1 & 3 of 20 worldwide!) with a rrp of $17,000!!!

I see a lot of RG variations on that list and under various settings. Though I find them a versatile guitar, I am oddly surprised to see it outside the realms of rock/metal and even 
nu-metal, which to me sounds more like hard rock. But thats an entirely different thread.

This was the main axe I played in my previous band and still my favorite guitar. We sounded more radiohead/sonic youth than korn/system of a down. But I see the OP's point.
