Ibanez Roadstar II: 80's flashback...

same here, came to me with a Badass. great not-Fender P basses.
A lot of comments I've received had to do with how hard it was to find parts since everything on this bass seems proprietary, even the knobs...

Yes, they both have all original tuners. It seems hard these days to find old Roadstars that have all four original tuners. What's that all about?

That grey one looks sick
It seems to be made entirely of proprietary parts, even the scale is unusual (32").Replacing tuners is most common complaint. Also heard from other users that the pickguard breaks too.
The grey one is an '83 RB820. The finish was called something like "silver smoke". It sometimes appears as silver, sometimes has hints of pink, depending on the light. Fantastic bass. Dual coil humbucker pickup with a switch to split the coils for tonal variation. I think it was Ibanez's variation on the Music Man Stingray, but passive. You can pick them up nowadays usually for $300-$400. I think there might even be one currently for sale on TB.

Although Ibanez made a 32" scale Roadstar (there's one currently for sale on Reverb), most of them were 34" scale--as both of mine are.
That is baddass! I just snagged an RB620 and was tossing around the idea of dropping a MM pickup in it.
