Ibanez rs824 thank you

hey guys!

I got this bass a while ago as an "upgrade" from my old one (a basic suzuki 4 string) from a guitarist friend of mine. All he asked for payment was that i played bass with him. searched the serial number and turns out its a 81

Seems to still be all original including the case (from my internet research) but was littered with problems.
neck was bowed extremely badly
3 way switch only worked in 1 position
terrible buzz/hum
pups were almost level with the body
missing screws everywhere and a loose jack

but thanks to you guys here at TB managed to diagnose all the problems.

the bass is now 100% the necks straight, the wirings been redone (turns out the jack was wired backwards, no grounding from the jack or the bridge) pup height corrected, action lowered & missing screws replaced. All electrics working perfectly so no more buzz/hum and the switch is working again so can now switch between pups.

i just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of you and show you guys what she looks like

Ooh that fretless must be so nice! If it's the 1 in you pic it looks amazing!

It is that very one. This pic below is a few years old already, but still looks just as good, and in remarkable shape for a 40-year-old instrument.

Wearing some Fender nylon tapewounds in this pic, but switched to Ernie Ball Group I flats shortly after. (Good grief, this pic is from 2013.) Also have a black RS-824 that a previous owner had swapped pickups — some active Seymour-Duncans. Was thinking about restoring it, but it sounds awesome with a set of LaBella Original '54s on it tuned to D-standard. I'd have to say it's even in better shape than the 940. :)

Now go post some more pics of yours in the Blazer/Roadstar Club thread. (Roadsters welcome, too.)
