I bought an Ibanez SR300 a few years ago and so far it's served me well. But recently there's been a problem. When I switch on the amp there's a loud burst of static that fades away quickly, and every time I play a note there's a sort of crackling sound. It's difficult to describe it, the closest I can come up with is it's like when you're playing with a drummer and your amp is loud enough to vibrate the snares on his snare drum.
It's happened once before and I took it to a shop to get it looked at but the only thing they could find wrong with it was that the battery that powers the active EQ had gone dead. Whatever they did to it, it started working fine again but I found the battery explanation confusing as I'd put in fresh batteries to see if that would make a difference, but it hadn't. I've tried two new batteries since it started making the sound again and the problem hasn't been rectified.
It's definately a problem with the bass as I've tried with different amps and different cables and the same thing has gone wrong. Does anyone have any suggestions?
