Ibanez SR305 Vs Squier Vint. Mod. Jazz V

Which one would you suggest?

Hey guys.. I recently decided to get a 5-string bass and get my skills a little further... I came across these 2 which I like a lot but i just cant decide which one I should get. The genres I play are punk-rock-metal and I don't know if one of the these basses suits all of them.. so I would like your opinion on these 2 on everything you know if possible and not strictly to which genre they are most suited! Thanks! :)

The basses I am between are:

1)FENDER SQUIER VINT. MOD. JAZZ V NT

Spent the first three years with Ibanez basses. Then I got my hands on a Squire and I was hooked. I’ve been modifying my basses and found that Fender products are so much easier and have a lot more options to do so. I will admit thou I have an Ibanez SRX 300 strung BEAD and love it. This thing growls. I also have an Ibanez EWB10 and prefer it over Fenders competitor.

unfortunately i cant afford the sr505.. my budget is 400euro tops..so the only 5string sr i can afford is the sr305...thx for sharing your opinion though.. i should have mentioned the budget thing on the 1st post :)

I totally understand, like I said with Ibanez I'd start at the SR505, so in comparing these 2 models I would go with the Squier...like someone else said modding is very easy with the Squier, which is a good thing.

I am a huge ibanez fan. And have a sr500 and sr506. There are great for metal. I would suggest saving for a bit and get the 505. But if you don't want to wait I would get the fender. But like said in the end its up to you

Those two basses are very different in the one point where people are most particular about five strings: the string spacing. You say you like them both, is this from looking at them on the internet or from playing them? If you have played them both and find that they both work well for you then count yourself lucky indeed. They are both well built basses and either would last you a long time. The Ibanez does have an onboard EQ. In fact the 2012 SR305's have upgraded bridges, pickups, and EQ's but I have not seen the new prices so that may bust your budget. I voted Ibanez because that one works far better for me than the wide neck of the Squier. But your vote is the only one that matters here.

Oh, don't worry about genre. Any bass will play any genre that you can play. Your SR305 or VM Jazz V will play punk-rock-metal just as well as mine will play praise and worship music.
