Ibanez SR4000/5000 Prestige?

I've searched for a thread regarding these and came up with nothing. So, has anyone played either http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-SR5000E-Prestige-Bass-Guitar?sku=580525 or http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-SR4000E-Prestige-Bass-Guitar?sku=580523 ? I recently discovered the comfort and practicality of Ibanez SRs, but am too used to higher priced basses (relatively :ninja:) so I saw these and was intrigued by the power curve EQ. What has your experience been with them?

i've always liked these basses, and one of the better playing basses i've ever picked up was an older prestige soundgear when they were making them in japan (they just started again this year) that had bartolinis installed...it absolutely killed...i had a chance to play one of these new 5 strings (the 5005), but in the store, through a genz rig...an uber 410 and a gbe 750...it felt great and had great tone...it was a little more than what i'm used to seeing an ibanez go for, but it had me thinking...the only downside was the gold hardware

I love the upper soundgears! I own a 905 which is nice because they no longer make neck-through basses with the concave backs anymore, I also have a defretted SR406, but it's not quite as nice.

When I first saw that new 5000 series I was hit realy hard with gas, my next bass will either be an SR5006 or a roscoe century standard 6, tough choice.

and pvt.parts, I also loved them so much that I built my own in the same general shape and style

I bought my SR4005 last month and absolutely love it. Very light bass with great tone. The bass just feels very well built and having the eq bypass switch is very cool. The only negative thing I can say about it is that the mid control is not what I expected.

I have the sr4000e tkf. What a dream to play. I have played a jp Jazz Power Special for 20 years with a fantastically fast thin neck- and the Ibanez neck still feels like butter in comparison. The power curve EQ is superior to the Fender too-no contest. More low end than I can use at higher volumes, and the mids are incredible- especially when trying to cut through a live performance or rehearsal- it just sings when the balance is nudged a bit toward the bridge pickup!

I like pretty much everything about them. Not crazy about the Preamp but it isn't bad by any means and you can always swap out electronics. They play great and quality control seems to be very consistent. I can't vouch for the Korean ones but the Japanese built versions are outstanding. I would consider buying one again if they did a maple top instead of the wenge.
