Ibanez sr500 treble knob problem

The knob sticks up because either it isn't on all the way or because the pot sticks up. The nuts that go on the pots are called jamb nuts If you get a second jamb nut you can lower the pot down so it doesn't stick up. Remove the pot from the its mount and run the second jamb nut down all the way, put the pot back into the mount and see if it is low enough, if not remove the pot again and raise the nut up until you are satisfied. The toothed washer goes between the nut and the body. Put the outside nut on and tighten it up. Done. This can be done with measurements rather than trial and error if you can add and subtract.
Yeah those ibby knobs use a small hex key to loosen/tighten, then you can adjust the height of them against the pot. Typically you don't want them to be all the way down anyway, they scrape agains the body wood then which causes scrapes and causes the knob to be harder to turn.
Take a business card and tear it into 2 pieces. Loosen the knob set screw and lower the knob down until it is sitting on the business card pieces. Tighten the set screw and pull the card pieces out from under the knob.
